The following principles underline our safeguarding provision at Maidwell:
- Safeguarding is given the highest priority at Maidwell Primary School.
- Safeguarding is everyone's business.
- In everything we do, we always remember:
It could happen here.

Aspects of Safeguarding
The following aspects of safeguarding children whilst in school are also included in our Safeguarding provision:
- Recruitment processes - these processes are also used for our Volunteers, Governors and third-party staff such as Freestyle & NMPAT.
- Staff Induction and Training - all staff undertake training at least every full term with a more in-depth annual training session based on the DfE statutory publication Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- First Aid - we have a number of staff qualified in Paediatric First Aid (Qualsafe Level 3).
- Site Security
- Site Health & Safety - our grounds & buildings are regularly inspected by an external company and our H&S Governor.
- Online Safety - we make extensive use of Natterhub, an online platform, to support our Online Safety teaching and Safeguarding.
If you would like further detail on any of these aspects, or other aspects of our Safeguarding, please contact the school office - we would be happy to detail how we maintain our Safeguarding provision.
Worrybox
The children at Maidwell are free to use a function on this website called 'WorryBox'
Through this function they can tell us of any concern they might have, however small, and we will receive these worries direct.
Usually these are concerns we can deal with in-school the next day.
It can often help to use the 'WorryBox' if your child is revealing a worry at bedtime and we welcome you and your child using this at bedtime if this is helpful.
Policies
We have a number of policies that relate directly to our Safeguarding provision.
Please visit our Policies area to access our main policy, our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy.
Other related policies can also be found in this same area.
As with all our policies, printed copies can be requested from our school office.
Early Help
Early Help is the principle of providing the right support at the right time to tackle issues that emerge for children, young people and their families.
It is about providing effective help as soon as a problem or difficulty emerges. It can support families to maintain positive change throughout a child, a young person, or family’s life.
Providing help at an early stage is an effective way to promote the welfare of children. It can take place at any point in a child’s life - from the foundation years to young adulthood.
The Early Help Assessment (EHA) is a simple way to identify the needs of children and families. It also outlines a plan to meet those needs. The EHA aims to provide a coordinated response so that nobody misses out on the support they need. It is used by all agencies in Northamptonshire who deliver early help and Maidwell Primary are committed to taking a full part in this.
